The Dawn of Blood and Silver: The Ancient War of Sobek-Kha
I. The Primordial Nexus and Lyxra's Shadow
In the deepest antiquity, the lands upon which Sobek-Kha would later rise were a nexus of immense primal power, recognized as the very Birthplace of Humanity. This was a place where creation's energies flowed freely, connected not only to the vibrant surface world but also to the potent gateway of the Netherworld beneath.
Into this world came Lyxra, the Spider Queen, a primordial entity of unimaginable hunger and cosmic darkness, drawn to the boundless life-force and spiritual energies concentrated in this nascent cradle of humanity. Lyxra was a devourer of light, an ancient evil whose presence corrupted the very essence of creation, twisting life into grotesque forms and casting deep, pervasive shadows.
Simultaneously, from realms unknown to nascent humankind, the Eldar (Elves) walked the world, possessing powers and knowledge far beyond mortal ken. Among them was the brilliant, yet proud, Fëanor, whose mind conceived of wonders, and whose spirit burned with an unmatched fire. He held precious artifacts of unimaginable power – the Elfstones – whose light captured the very essence of creation.
II. The Crimson Birth and the War of Darkness
In her unending hunger, Lyxra coveted such light. She ambushed Fëanor, and though he fought with the fury of a star, she managed to claim one of the fabled Elfstones. Using the raw, untamed power of this stolen artifact, Lyxra performed an act of profound and horrifying corruption. She sought a vessel, a champion to extend her shadow across the world and to wage war against the radiant Elves, particularly Fëanor himself. Her gaze fell upon a powerful human sorceress of the era, whose ambition burned almost as brightly as Fëanor's own.
With the corrupting power of the Elfstone, Lyxra transformed this sorceress into the very First Vampire, a being of immense power, an unholy perversion of life, utterly bound to Lyxra's will. This being was Neferata, the progenitor of all vampires, destined to become the Archlich Queen of Sobek-Kha. Neferata, infused with the Elfstone's corrupted power, began to wage Lyxra's shadow war against Fëanor and his kin, sowing discord and draining the life from the very lands he sought to protect. This marked the birth of undeath and the initial, devastating assault on the Elven presence in this region.
III. The Moon's Call and the Rise of the Lunari
As Neferata's vampiric horde swelled, fueled by Lyxra's dark energies and targeting humankind, the humans living in the Birthplace of Humanity found themselves swiftly enslaved, their vibrant life-force harvested to feed their new, undead masters. Their despair echoed through the nascent world, a cry for salvation.
Hearing this plea, and witnessing the unnatural corruption spreading across the land, the Elves – those not directly engaged with Fëanor's singular pursuit, perhaps a faction more attuned to the natural world or the broader cosmic balance – recognized the insidious threat. They understood that Lyxra's corrupted light had brought forth a new horror. To combat this rising darkness and to even the odds against Neferata's unholy legions, the Elves turned to a celestial power: they harnessed the sacred energies of their revered Moon Goddess, Elindre.
Through a profound act of divine channeling and ancient magic, the Elves bestowed a sacred blessing upon a select group of these enslaved humans. They infused them with the wild, transformative spirit of the moon, granting them heightened senses, incredible resilience, and the power to shift into powerful forms. These blessed humans were the first Lunari. They were no longer mere victims, but a new lineage, imbued with the strength of the wild and the light of Elindre, destined to be the sworn protectors of the natural world against unnatural darkness.
IV. The Hero's Alliance: Valandar, Lyxra's Fall, and the Stolen Light
From the depths of the oceans rose Valandar, the surviving aquatic elf and legendary founder of Atlantis, whose destiny was woven into the fabric of this era's greatest conflicts. Witnessing the suffering of humanity and the rise of this unholy scourge, Valandar answered the call. He allied himself with the newly awakened Lunari, finding in their moon-blessed strength and fierce devotion to the natural cycles a powerful force against Neferata's dominion.
Valandar, leading the valiant Lunari, confronted Lyxra herself in a climactic, world-shaking battle. It was a clash of primordial darkness against the combined might of Elven lineage, human resilience, and the moon's sacred power. Through immense struggle and sacrifice, Valandar ultimately defeated Lyxra, driving her primal form back into the deepest abysses of emptiness and severing her direct, binding influence over the land.
In the aftermath of Lyxra's defeat, Valandar discovered the very Elfstone that Lyxra had used to create Neferata. He took possession of it, recognizing its immense power and dangerous nature. This act, however, would have profound consequences, for its acquisition sparked a new, bitter war with Fëanor, who considered the Elfstone his rightful property. (Valandar would go on to possess two such stones: one would eventually be enshrined within the heart of Atlantis, and the other, the legendary Morning Star, he would later take to the heavens above, but that is a tale for another time).
V. The Silent War Begins: An Echo of Ancient Feuds
With Lyxra's direct control shattered, Neferata, though no longer directly bound to the Spider Queen's will, remained a vampire queen of immense power, her very existence now a self-perpetuating perversion of life. The Lumani, now free and empowered, retreated into the hidden places of the world, nurturing their moon-blessed lineage and guarding the natural order.
The war between the vampires of Sobek-Kha (now under Neferata's absolute rule) and the Lunari (the moon-blessed human lineage) became a clandestine, desperate struggle. It was a war born not just of a simple good-versus-evil, but of ancient betrayals, primordial corruption, stolen light, and the enduring conflict between unnatural undeath and the fierce, protective spirit of the moon-kissed wild. The Lunari now guard the Netherworld portal with a renewed, vigilant purpose, battling any attempt by Neferata to exploit its power, and ever-watchful for any lingering shadow of Lyxra's ancient corruption.
